Snakefish

Characteristics

  • Often recorded singly, burrowed in sand and exposing only the head.
  • Sexually mature at around 2 years old.
  • Feeds on fishes, crustaceans and molluscs. Exhibits cannibalism.

Description

  • Head and back brown to pinkish-brown. Whitish ventrally.
  • Blue and yellow horizontal stripes along body.
  • A black blotch on the upper part of gill cover.
