Singapore shrimpgoby

  • Mostly recorded singly, sharing a burrow with commensal shrimps.

  • Body pale yellowish-brown.
  • Several pale-red to brown vertical bars on each side of the body. The third bar does not touch or only slightly touches the anal fin. Readily distinguishes from the similar looking Pink-speckled shrimpgoby, on which the third bar clearly touches the anal fin.
  • Anal fin bluish.
  • Numerous blue and red spots on the head, which are relatively scattered towards the back. Red spots are larger than blue spots.
  • On the face, red spots are surrounded by blue spots.
  • Usually, red spots between eyes and mouth are joined to form a broad bar. This bar is not present on Pink-speckled shrimpgoby.
