Orangespot surgeonfish

Characteristics

Observed to form small groups.
Observed to share coral crevices with the Sailfin tang.
Benthic feeding species, feeding on algae and detritus.
Can live to more than 30 years in the wild.

Description

Adults:

Body grey to brown. One colour phase with anterior body pale and posterior body dark.
A thick horizontal orange band, sometimes with a bluish margin, runs from behind eye to mid body.

Juveniles:

Body yellow.
No orange band in small juveniles.
