Characteristics

  • Recorded singly and in small groups.
  • Juveniles may form schools with other goatfishes or even wrasses. Feeds on small invertebrates and small fishes.

Description

Juvenile:

  • Body pale and yellowish dorsally.
  • A black spot on dorsal peduncle.
  • A short, dark stripe runs through eyes from the tip of the snout.

Adult:

  • Greenish to reddish brown dorsally, and whitish to pale pink ventrally.
  • A horizontally elongated yellow spot on middle back.
  • A black spot on caudal peduncle.
  • A short, dark stripe runs through eyes from the tip of the snout.
  • Bright blue lines and spots around eyes and cheeks.
