Usually occurs singly.
Mainly feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.
Suggested to be able to change sex from female to male (protogynous hermaphroditism).
- Body red to brown, gradually becoming darker towards the tail.
- May have several vertical pale bars on body.
- Caudal fin with two diagonal white lines, on upper and lower lobes respectively.
