Usually occurs singly.

Mainly feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

Suggested to be able to change sex from female to male (protogynous hermaphroditism).


  • Body red to brown, gradually becoming darker towards the tail.
  • May have several vertical pale bars on body.
  • Caudal fin with two diagonal white lines, on upper and lower lobes respectively.
