Dark-banded fusilier


Usually occurs singly in Hong Kong, but occurs in schools and may mix with other fusiliers elsewhere. Feeds on zooplanktons.


  • Body silvery blue.
  • Several horizontal rows of dark scales on back and a thicker dark stripe below.
  • A thick blue band from gill cover to caudal peduncle. When associated with reefs, lower part of body may change to red, and the thick blue band ends at mid body.
  • Upper and lower lobes with white margins and dark streak.
