  • Lives on gorgonians. Sometimes observed on ropes and on submerged dead twigs and branches of trees.
  • Often recorded singly, in pairs or in small groups.
  • Shy and often evades approaching divers.


  • Body small and translucent.
  • Lower side of the body may be red.
  • May have several vertical red bars on body.
  • Eyes with red rim.
  • Not to be confused with another genus of gobies, Eviota, which are also relatively small in size but differ in appearance and habitats.
