Blue gudgeon


  • Alert and stays away from divers.
  • Often recorded in pairs or in small groups in which individuals share the same borrow.


  • Body light grey-blue.
  • Red margin on first dorsal fin. This feature distinguishes the species from the similar looking Blue hana goby, which does not possess a red margin on first dorsal fin.
  • Iridescent blue lines on head.
  • A short, diagonal black stripe at the base of pectoral fin.
